Hi. I’m Kewin.

I first started programming in high school when I was introduced to web app development with JavaScript and PHP. And suddenly it clicked — I realized that my efforts could actually create something that helps others, something I’d love to use, and hey, I can even make money doing it.

That excitement never really went away.

My philosophy

Build tools that actually help people. Not tools that make you feel smart. Tools that make users feel smart.

Software should be a servant, not a master. It should get out of the way and let people do what they need to do.

Current mantra

Done is better than perfect, but perfect is better than broken, but done is the only thing that matters.

(I’m still working on perfecting the mantra itself.)

What I do

  • Write code (mostly JavaScript/Node these days, but I’ve been around the block)
  • Think about simplicity — why do we keep making things complicated?
  • Meditate — trying to quiet a noisy mind since 2016
  • Lift weights — because programming is a sedentary job
  • Write about the stuff I’m figuring out — mostly to remember it myself

Why this blog looks like Windows XP

Because not everything needs to be shiny. Some things just need to work.

Plus, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. Or a retro blog.
